Openbase
One key for every frontier model.
We designed and engineered Openbase, an OpenAI-compatible gateway to models from several providers, together with its website and documentation.

The challenge
Teams building on language models maintain an account, key, SDK and invoice per provider, plus their own fallbacks. Openbase had to replace all of that without asking anyone to rewrite code.
What we did

Adoption is a base URL
Requests, responses, streaming and errors match the OpenAI format, so existing SDKs and tool calls work unchanged.

Failover by design
Each model maps to several upstreams in priority order. Requests retry only on errors another provider can fix, and billing applies only to the attempt that produced tokens.

Prices you can read first
The catalog, the pricing estimator and the gateway’s billing all read from the same source, so what the site shows is what the API charges.
